Pyridoxine is often called vitamin B6, as is pyridoxine HCL, pyridoxine hydrochloride and pyridoxal phosphate (an altered form of the vitamin). It is important, however, not to receive excessive amounts of pyridoxine/B6 through diet and supplements combined, because a vitamin B6 overdose could be experienced. Usually, pyridoxine/B6 overdose will not be achieved by too much of the vitamin in a diet, and it is instead caused by too much unnecessary supplementation. If, however, you do need a pyridoxine/B6 supplement, you can find pills with the vitamin alone, or ones that contain vitamin B6 along with other B vitamins as well. It is important to remember, however, to read the dosage amounts and toxicity and only take what is necessary. Keep in mind that you will also receive some of your RDA through food sources and there is no reason to take the entire RDA in pill form each day.
